wix free hostingWhen it comes to setting up your first web site you have a lot options. First you will need to pick a domain name, setup a web hosting package then decide if you want to create an HTML site, eCommerce or go with a WordPress blog.

The whole process can be quite overwhelming and also expensive if you are just starting out and not sure where to look for the best deals.

The largest web hosting companies like HostGator, BlueHost and 1&1 hosting offer packages in the $10 a month range for individuals who are just starting out or looking to start a small site.

Still… the problem with doing this is that if you don’t know how to setup a web site, use FTP or have no idea how web servers and hosting work, this may end up being more of a headache than anything else.

So what are your alternatives?

One of the best ways to start your first site is to go through a free hosting services like Wix or Weebly. These two services currently host over 50 million web sites, and best of all it’s completely free.

When you sign up to their site you will also be able to use their free design software which is as simple as pointing and clicking, then changing the content to say whatever you like.

I’m sure you are asking, how can Wix and Weebly offer their services for free?

Fortunately they have some premium and upgrade services and since they are hosting millions of sites they only need a small fraction of these sign ups to actually upgrade to a paid account for them to run their business.

In the end this works out great for their customers and newbie site owners. There is no need to pay for hosting, a domain name, learning complicated software programs or how to upload content and images to internet.

If you ever wanted to upgrade your web site with a domain of it’s own or setup an ecommerce site, it’s all possible through their system. Compared to other hosting services out there, the rates aren’t too bad either and they also come with full customer support and tutorial guides.

The next time you are thinking about starting a blog or web site of your own and not sure where to start, be sure to explore the many options you have in the free hosting market.
