A good UPS will last a lifetime, so the calculation is easily made: a $100.- or less lifelong protection from power fluctuations is probably a lot cheaper then insurance. And make sure to plug in your tv also!

I budget for 3 years, but sometimes that will stretch out a bit if there are no signs of trouble.

However, I have had past experience with UPS's actually causing problems with server reboots, etc. when the battery was near failure. The UPS itself was fine, but the battery was nearing the end of its life. If that is an acceptible risk for you...

This would def. be a good investment. I had a friend who's computer was fried from a power surge. I would rather have paid 100 bucks for the UPS then having to replace the whole computer. Good information in this post. Thanks

UPS is very important also if your power supply is irregular, as it delivers a steady current to your equipment thus ensuring prevention against damage from power surges.

Till then,

It seems your first UPS having problem with charging cct, sometimes as simple as a blown fuse or may be a gone battery. In the second case it is a faulty battery, replace it and the UPS can put in to cct.

UPS is really important in a company. Because when the power is down, you still have time to save all your works.
